Bush|Fire

Costume designed and created by me in response to the 2020 Australian Bushfires.

Inspiration and story:

The 2019/20 Australian Bushfires were devastating.
For weeks we haven't seen the end of smoke, couldn't have a breath of fresh air. The news footage - and photos on social media by affected friends and strangers - were horrific. So many dead or injured animal and so many hopeless people. It was heartbreaking.
As someone who didn't grow up in Australia I have never experienced anything like this.
Then - when the weather started to turn and the fires got extinguished slowly - nature has begun to rise anew from the ashes in front of our very eyes.
My aim was to raise awareness to the devastating effects of the bushfires and the hope for renewal after. The Australian bush is unique and beautiful, it was a heartwarming experience to recreate it.
